June 1st, 2022.
After completing my Ph.D. at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, I joined the DE-RISC Lab (co-led by Prof. Carmine Galasso, Dr. Gemma Cremen, and Dr. Roberto Gentile).
I will contribute to the development of the Tomorrow’s Cities Decision Support Environment (DSE) for risk-based, pro-poor urban design and planning for tomorrow’s cities (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ijdrr.2021.102158).
We aim to catalyse and support a transition from crisis management to pro-poor, multi-hazard risk-informed urban planning and people-centered decision-making in expanding cities worldwide.
Tomorrow’s Cities, the UKRI GCRF Multi-hazard Urban Disaster Risk Transitions Hub, aims at reducing disaster risk for the poor in tomorrow’s cities.
We work in a number of cities in low-income and lower-middle-income countries, including Kathmandu (Nepal) and Nairobi (Kenya). We collaborate with local, national, and global organisations to strengthen disaster risk governance by undertaking integrated, multi-scale, and multi- and interdisciplinary research to better understand natural multi-hazard risks and their drivers.
